There's a so-called pre-authorization process, which is performed by the bank when making a contactless payment using a Fala machine or reader. This is a temporary hold on funds in the customer's account – depending on the bank, the hold can range from 1 PLN to 50 PLN. Importantly, the funds in the customer's account are temporarily unavailable, but they are always returned to the account. In some cases, it may take several days to remove the hold, due to varying processing times; the FALA system has no control over this.
